Where business and community meet

Hi, we’re Harvest Fields. Founded in 2007, Harvest Fields Centre is a multi-purpose venue in Roughley, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham. Harvest Fields is a venue for businesses, hosting meetings, training, events, conferences, and everything in between. We do this so that we can be a place for local people to meet to play sports, take classes, enjoy hobbies, or just meet friends in a relaxed environment. That’s what we’re all about – creating a space for connection and community.

Our Story

Harvest Fields Centre was built to serve the community by providing a place for people to meet, exercise, pray, and find peace. As a not-for-profit organisation, we host meetings, events and conferences to provide the funds needed to run the centre.

1993

Our story began with Marlpit Hall Farm in Roughley, Sutton Coldfield. The land had been farmed by the Gilmour family for more than 50 years when it was released for residential development.

1994

The couple who owned the land, Archie and Janet, had a vision to make a difference that included:

  • A village-type community, with houses of all different types and where all age groups feel secure
  • A playground and park area
  • A community building to encourage the ongoing life of the community including the home of a new church

2000

Crest Nicholson agreed to partner with the Gilmour family in this unusual venture. Agreements were signed with other landowners, and house-building started in 2000.

2001

The first homes were completed and occupied. A proportion of the homes were set aside to rent to those in housing need. To this day, these homes are managed by the charities set up by Archie and Janet.

2007

The Centre opened to serve those living in the 525 homes built on Harvest Fields and those living in the surrounding roads. Our community centre truly has a dynamic identity where communal relationships and activity naturally grow and can thrive within.

2013

Having been delayed by the fallout of the 2007 global banking crisis, the last homes were finished and the roads were finally joined together – Harvest Fields as a building project was complete, but in many ways, that was just the beginning.

More than a meeting space

Harvest Fields is more than a meeting space. It’s a place where people come together – to gather, learn, create, and collaborate. Whether you’re joining us for work or play – brainstorming or badminton, training session or fitness session, meeting with team mates or old mates – Harvest Fields exists to inspire meaningful connections, build relationships, and bring people together. And we are home to the local church. Why? Because we believe that when we know and care about the people around us, life is richer, neighbourhoods are safer, and society is stronger.
